End of Year Celebrations 2018

Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe (Children's Ground Central Australia) celebrated an inspiring year of growth, passion and dedication to changing the status quo at our end of 2018 joint Christmas Party with Akeyulerre. Our team of incredible, hard-working staff braved the 41+ degree heat to set up, feed, entertain, wrap presents, drive buses, play games with and support over 380 children and families who attended the event on Arrernte country in Mparntwe (Alice Springs). We were so grateful that our Elders could be there to congratulate all the children, parents and families who walked with Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe this year, attending culturally appropriate learning activities designed and delivered by First Nations people.

Children enjoyed the jumping castle and games, and were very excited to see Santa arrive, arms full with Christmas presents. The party was a great chance for families to come together, have a good feed and acknowledge the strengths of the Arrernte community. Together, we are building a new future in which lives of safety, agency and opportunity for First Nations people is the norm, and where cultural identity and community is valued and celebrated.
