Sadly, on Sunday the 19th of August 2018 the world lost an incredibly remarkable human.
Yanni Sarantis was THE caring, loving and pure human who would have a positive impact on everybody he encountered. The way Yanni would hold eye contact, listen and share his wisdom worked as a recipe for making one feel welcome, comfortable and better about themselves. A humble pillar of selfless strength that held so many.
Yanni’s unconditional love inspired others to love the same. His lack of ego showed people that it is ok to be yourself. His selfless nature taught us to think of what we can do for others.
What is the meaning of life? We can only ponder. But something that give’s our lives meaning is to make the world a better place while we are here. Yanni did that, in all the places he went and through all the people he met. Yanni’s light shined and helped others to shine too.
Originally this was intending to support the Sarantis family with the expenses of Yanni’s memorial services. After speaking with his brother, Joey let me know that he believed Yanni would want us to raise money for an Indigenous charity supporting communities in the Northern Territory.
So in true Yanni spirit, let us care for and help others as a tribute to the amazing man that we all loved, and who loved us all.
After a bit of searching and some suggestions I have come across this grass roots organization, Children’s Ground.
Children’s Ground intends to create an Australia free from extreme poverty and inequity. The organization works out of Central Australia, Kakadu West Arnhem and has an office closer to home in Melbourne. In honour of Yanni, please donate what you can to an important cause that Yanni would've been passionate about.
With love and condolences to the Sarantis family, Yanni's extended tribe and all who grieve for him. May we all let his positive nature and loving influence continue to affect us and change the world.
Rest in peace brother, and thank you for YOU.
